Statement

Much of my work is non-objective and somewhat minimalist using acrylics on canvas, and may include a variety of materials like cheesecloth, modeling medium, wire, and inks. My overall process is an intellectual exercise in puzzle solving…assembling and balancing pieces to find a “comfortable” or “comfortably uncomfortable” compositional pose. Rotating emphasis on shape, form, line, texture, color, and neutrality of color, using varied materials on canvas provides a dynamic range of creative possibilities, continual challenges, and inspirational sources.

Recently, this process brought me to a captivating experimentation with whimsical anthropomorphic form. Utilizing the same foundational elements of art and composition, I discovered that even a subtle hint of human form sparks spontaneous reactions and creative interpretations by viewers enriched by their own experiences.
